    I want to start looking at peoples facial expressions whilst working, resting & playing. Are there any artists I can look at.

    Look at potraiture in general. It is worth looking at a variety of techniques, I would try and have a search on the National Portrait Gallery website:

    try to photograph people you know at work rest or play, have a look at this image of Brigitte Bardot by Terry O'Neill to get you starrted:
